Bayern Munchen vs. RCA Casablanca 21.12.2013 Club World Cup final

 

German giants Bayern Munchen are hot favourites to win the Club World Cup, but they will have to be wary of hosts Raja Casablance, who are looking to produce another major upset and win the trophy on home soil. The Bavarians were seen as the number one candidates for the title even before the tournament started, and they arrived in Morocco in confident mood in spite of suffering the first defeat of the season to Manchester City. However, having won their Champions League group, while creating a seven-point advantage at the top of Bundesliga standings, Pep Guardiola’s side were looking to finish the 2013 in style. And while they did not have an easy job against Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande, the Bavarians recorded a 3-0 victory to set up a clash with Raja Casablanca in the final. Raja Casablanca didn’t exactly do much to deserve an appearance at such a big tournament, apart from winning the Moroccan championship last term and qualifying as a representative of the host country. And with the team sitting in 9th place in the new league campaign, nobody really expected they would be able to go far at the Club World Cup. Nevertheless, Faouzi Benzarti’s side impressed to defeat Auckland City and Monterrey, reaching the semi-finals in the process. And just when everybody thought the game against star-studded Atletico Mineiro side would be the end of the road for them, Raja Casablanca recorded a 3-1 victory to reach the final. They did all they could to meet Bayern, but a heavy defeat are waiting them. Good luck to you!
